January Backyard

My favorite time to spend time in the backyard is when it is winter.  I keep heading out back and snapping pictures.  Here are the January around the homestead photos. It's fun to see how the snow situation changed.

Snow

The wee bit of snow was lovely while it lasted. Gone now.  I'm requesting more, just when it's not during my husband's commute.

Pantry love

A while back, I purchased these brackets (from Hobby Lobby) to add some shelves to the pantry.  On a day that he had off, Adrian decided to get them up.  He cut some wood, sanded it and installed it all with his tools from my aunt and uncle (thank you!).  He said he did this so his mom can live in the 1800s.  He also said he's going to be a fine catch for a lady, since he's a handyman. I have plans for him to build me a she shed and a greenhouse.  A mama can dream, right?!

I'm also realizing I have failed to give a pantry update since this post.

Realized I never really took pics of it completed other than this one. On the to do list!

Storm Catching

My husband was not feeling stellar, but I insisted he go outside because a storm was brewing. He LOVES watching storms come in and we have the very best backyard to watch.

Pantry Progress

For 10 years, I've been meaning to get to this pantry.  I wish I took 'before' photos.  It was yellowed paint that was foxing and carpeted. I had plastic blue shelves and it was a big dumping ground. Fresh paint, red old floors, back to square one.  I am super thrilled with the progress thus far.  We still need to fix the light and I want to add shelves over the vintage hooks. I didn't purchase anything to other than the inexpensive shelves for this project.  Just shopped around my house. I may purchase something at some point, but I guess I'm going with eclectic vintage farmhouse.

So much more functional now though.

And while I'm add it, the last space I redid that is much more functional than it was.

Someday I hope to have my vintage kitchen sink installed, new kitchen floors and new countertops.  Each year it is a bit more 'us' than it was the year prior. I love this home.

Northern Lights

Northern Lights, visible from our home in Maine.  It was exquisite.

Night two was supposed to be even better. It wasn't as colorful, but still pretty neat.

March Days

March mornings, wish you could hear the wrens. Feeling springlike.

The Gold at the End of the Rainbow

My husband ran in hollering for me to "Get out, get out!"  Quickly learned why.  The gold at the end of the rainbow is my beloved farmhouse. I knew it! Look closely and you'll see my other treasures, my crew is posing.

All five of us.

Looking out

I've decided to be done with the dishwasher for good. I know, I know.  My husband thinks I'm crazy too.  That's a whole post for another day, but for now I say that by doing the dishes by hand, I am looking out the window more than ever.  Looking out the window more means that I see moments that I want to capture in my heart forever.  This means I end up running outside part way through the job to capture a snapshot of either a scene I love or the sky looking just so. I just love living here so much, I am appreciating the extra moments I take after a meal to enjoy looking out at home sweet home.

Barn Excavation Complete!

Barn excavation is done for now. We have granite steps in 3 places and a fancy retaining wall.

It's done for now. Surely it could use some exterior and I hope to put my greenhouse hoops up here. Facing south so warm and it will be protected from the wind where it is here.  Still more to do, but it's time for a pause and being thankful that it's not falling down with all these rain storms.
