Summer Ocean

This year has been a weird year for us for the beach.  First it was so cold, then a series of injuries and Adrian has decided sand is gross.  We have not done much swimming at all. Hopefully that will be different the 2nd half of summer. 

June

June has been a really weird month.  We are fortunate enough to have a resident beach pass for many ocean beaches in our town. We usually go all the time when it's hot. Only we haven't been this whole month because of Anna-Kate's cast.  

The last time we were at the beach was in May...and Anna-Kate swam then at least!  (Freezing!) July 1st the cast comes off. Anna-Kate has a count down! I think we will be beach bound that day! 

Microplastics

 We had a day collecting macroplastics and filtering ocean water for microplastics in the lab. We thought they were just watching, but it was definitely hands on for them too. Such an interesting day!  A great experience and very eye opening. 

More Florida Beach Time

 Manasota beach...again...because we just can't get enough of the ocean. So many shells and shark teeth accompanied us home.  I actually had a little vacation myself and read most of this book on the beach.  What a lovely time we had.

This is the 'I don't need my swimsuit" girl. Everytime. 

November Beach

I know people flock to the ocean in the summer, but I will always say the Maine beaches are so special when they are cold and empty.  We lit a fire and invited our Beachcombers 4-H club and had such a lovely time. A marvelous day to be homeschooling.

 I'm super thankful to get to do what I love.  Best of both worlds, homeschool and nature education.  So fun! Most of these pics are friends' pics (thank you!).  Weather cold and rainy, but that didn't stop us from crabbing! 

Beachcombing

 I'm back to leading groups for ocean education.  These are a few of our beachcombing friends.  To think, we get to do science midday at the ocean.  Definitely a homeschooling perk.

September Maine Waters

 Does this girl think the Maine ocean waters are too cold in September? No. Not at all. 

In fact she loved it so, she proposed to the ocean.  "Will you marry me, ocean?"

I will never get tired of seeing the sprint to the water after a hot day on land. Summer nights are special. 

Heat

The heat in Maine is brutal.  Morning swim and nighttime swim today and probably tomorrow too. 

First swim

 Last week the girls fully submerged in the Maine Atlantic Waters for maybe a half hour.  Audra didn't want her wet suit either. Just to be clear, their first dip wasn't mine. Brr.
