Closing a chapter.

Most of you don't know that although we've been settled into our farmhouse for a year, we still have been carrying our previous house. What a year of stress it's been, carrying two homes. It seems that something has constantly broke and needed fixing this last year, in both houses.  We were so tempted to get renters, but we knew there must be the perfect family who belonged with that house.  And we were so right.  They got the keys yesterday.

That house wasn't just a house-it was our home.  We thought we'd stay there forever, we did so much work thinking so.  We never thought we'd leave. We loved living there. It was our first home, the home we brought our babies home to.  Our favorite place to be when life elsewhere was overwhelming.  Our favorite place to be together.  So many memories there. But you know, when your dream farmhouse comes on the market, things change.

Everything happened as it was supposed to.  I had no reason to worry.  Nevertheless, I feel elated today.  Elated not only because we have only one home now, but because we are so happy with who ended up with that house, and we're excited for them to begin their journey.

Goodbye, our dear cape.  We loved you so.

It's not ours any longer, but these memories will forever be mine.

Really, there's many sweet memories that I'll always hold.  But there's also oodles more to make on our farm.  So thankful.  Thankful, indeed.

  1. The post voor today is very Lovely!

  2. Oh closing one chapter and moving on to the next with all those sweet memories of the last one still dancing in your head is the best part of life. You had a lovely home and the new people are going to love it just as much as you did. Next chapter here you come:) Hug B

  3. What a cute house! Now you can relax and move on though.

  4. OMGosh, Jackie, such a beautiful montage of your life in your first home. I adored it.
We feel the same way about our home waiting for just the right family.
So, so happy for you and yours.
    Continued blessings...

  5. All of these photos are so precious! Your home was beautiful and I can tell you did so much work on it. Your pregnancy announcements are so great! I love the "Prego" one :) I totally understand how you feel about your home. We felt the same way about our first house and did soooo much work on it thinking we'd be there forever. Then we got the self-sufficiency bug thanks to our chickens and out to the country we went :) I still miss our house, but I would never move back. I just wish we could have moved our house out to the country with us somehow haha.

I'm so happy for you that you are closing this chapter and on to the next. It's awesome that you found the right buyers for your home as well. I bet that made it easier :)

  6. Congratulations!! I LOVED the photos - I would smile, then laugh, then ooh and ahh, then laugh, ...... what great memories for all of you. And what wonderful memories you're making in your new home. Hugs to you!!

  7. So happy for you and loved all the photos of your home and family. I know how stressful it can be carrying two houses and waiting for a home to sell...we just went through the same thing. We were selling our big Maine farmhouse to downsize to a condo (which we had already purchased because the price was right) for retirement and the farmhouse took over a year to sell. Really happy for you...enjoy your new home! Cheryl
