8 pieces of furniture refinshed. Before/after shots of most.

Oh my...have I ever caught the furniture refinishing bug.  That's right, you read that right.  I've done 8 pieces in the last 3 weeks.  Oh my, indeed!

It's slightly less impressive when I tell you five of said refinishing projects have been chairs.
Child chairs before:
And after:
Adult sized chair (one out of 3 I just did):
And after:
Random shelf that I found in the house that was filthy and looked as good as junk...

Before (after it was cleaned up):

In the middle of said changes (love milk paint):

And finished (photobombed by Audra).

And a bed frame from my childhood that was very, very banged up...before:

And after:

And another random piece of furniture that was found on this property, here's the before:
And the after:
Although it goes okay here, I am setting my sights on using this for sewing storage. I made a curtain and attached that with a tension rod, that will hopefully hide the mess it will soon contain.

And now I just need to put these items where they go and organize around them.  I'll show you, I promise.

Tell me, who else has a furniture refinishing bug?  What have you done?  What would you like to do?

  1. I love your blog, and your kids make me smile every day on FB. I love the pics. I don't think that refinishing children's chairs makes it any less impressive that you refinished all of that stuff. If anything, it's MORE impressive, because of the smaller parts. :D Anyway, I think you did a great job. I would love to have that "sewing cupboard" myself! ;) Richelle K. 2. Too cute! I love all the new red pieces, especially the chairs. And the random cabinet you found on the property - how neat! I really like the angled legs on it and the curtain you added. Great job!

We are working on building a farmhouse table for our kitchen right now out of reclaimed wood from David's old band room! We need to do a little more on it then I can't wait to share it on the blog.

  3. I adore these before and after pics. Especially the bed from childhood is precious. The red is a pretty color.

Sat. our local hardware store was giving away quart size paint. We needed exterior for our front door which they did not have.

A young mom in front of us was getting a free quart of black to paint her children's bedroom furniture. She was hoping 1 qt. would be enough. We asked her if she could use our free quart. Yep, she was thrilled.

Another lady was using her free qt. to paint birdhouses.

We'll get around to painting our front door when our weather cools!!!

  4. Wow! You were busy! And you did such a great job! Oh my do I love those old chairs (the adult ones) that you painted red. And the bed frame. There's just something about red paint. And the piece that you hung the fabric on looks great!

  5. Thank you so much, all, for your comments and stories. I used to think red paint would be too bold, but I've changed my mind. Glad you all agree!

  6. I love your photo bomber. ;-)

Wow, you got a lot done and it looks fabulous! I have been wanting to strip our little china cupboard and bleach it and update the hardware on it. I've been wanting to do it for 2 summers. Some day...
