Roadside Stand...

It's been a few months since we started doing roadside stands once a week. We started to earn enough money to purchase goats. We have enough for the goats and fencing now. Come fall we hope to get fencing up and have some of our very own.  The money also funds the food for our animals.  There's something special about a 2 1/2 year old marching into the feed store, to buy food for his beloved chickens with his own money.

We've come to love having roadside stands.

Sometimes they're small.
Sometimes they're huge.

We've had a few common denominators.

Little helpers.  Goodness, they love having a 'store'.

Getting the cash register out, greeting customers, waving to cars passing by.
Bread.  Some weeks, I sell 16 loaves! (Recipe here.)  People love it and come back for it week after week.

And friends.  Yes, many customers were strangers to us a few months ago.  But now, they're our friends.  They put smiles on our faces and we enjoy seeing them weekly.
I never thought having a roadside stand would be that which links us even closer to this community.  It does.  And for that, I'm thankful.

  5. This is just so awesome. I've said this before, but I really do wish we were neighbors! I'd totally buy some bread from you and other goodies. Everything looks so delicious. And how amazing that you are closer to getting goats because of your roadside stand! You're teaching your kids such a wonderful lesson at an early age.
